Oulipost #15 – Prisoner’s Constraint

Prisoner’s Constraint: Imagine a prisoner whose supply of paper is restricted. To put it to fullest use, he will maximize his space by avoiding any letter extending above or below the line (b,d,f,g,h,j,k,l,p,q,t and y) and use only a,c,e,m,n,o,r,s,u,v,w,x and z. Compose a poem using only words that can be made from these letters AND which you source from your newspaper.

Reassure Us

We are as sore as reasons come,
no income, no car, no revenue.

Reassure us, no, reassure me,
our news is, in a sense, a concern.

Use me, now, own our concern.
Issue a measure we can use.

No man can save us, no civics,
no crisis over concerns. We were

never an issue, never a concern.
Reassure us, as sore as reasons are.

I love this! We are on the same wavelength as far as what is happening in the world, it seems.
